If you haven't already done so, please contact InfoDial Support and ask for a Custom Cart setup on your site. You will need the login & password provided in order to use the Shopping Cart Manager.
SET UP CUSTOM CART ON YOUR SITE
Once you have your login & password, go to your Control Panel and click on "Account Setup", click on "Shopping Cart Setup", and enter in your login & password.
Select a shopping cart style from the list making sure that you have clicked on both the radio button & the 'Select' button. This sets up a subdirectory on your website named "shopping".
FILL OUT YOUR PROFILE
Come back to your Control Panel and click on the Shopping Cart Manager. Select 'Company Profile' and fill in the form. Make sure you fill in your zip code. The zip code is necessary in order for the tax calculations to work properly in your shopping cart.
CHOOSE YOUR OPTIONS
Go to the Shopping Cart Manager and click on 'Module Manager'. Select the options you wish to include in your site. More Info
UPLOAD YOUR IMAGES
If you will be using images in your shopping cart for your products, you need to upload them. Doing this step first saves you from having to go back and 'marry' the images to your product entries later on. You will be able to select the image you need for an item from a drop-down list in the Product Manager.
The maximum recommended size in pixels for an image is 300x300. Anything larger will take too much time to download and will distort the look of the shopping cart pages themselves. It is best to keep the images around 200x200, they will download faster. Not all images are exact squares, but if you keep either the width or the height (whichever is largest for that particular image) at 200 pixels, the item will be easy to see and will look pleasing with the rest of the fields on the page.
Go to the Shopping Cart Manager and click on the 'Image Manager'. Click on 'Image Upload', browse until you find the image you want from your hard drive, and click on 'Send Image'. Be sure to fill out the description field with something that will make it easy for you to select the correct image in the Product Manager (such as the Item#). Continue uploading your images until you are done.
ENTER YOUR PRODUCTS
Go to the Shopping Cart Manager and click on 'Product Manager'. Click on 'Add New Category', and fill in the form. Do not use special characters such as '&', '#' or commas - they will cause the database searches to fail.
Some tips:
- If you were selling Music CDs, for example, a Category might be Classical or Hip Hop, and a Subcategory might be the artist's name such as 'Beethoven' or 'Ice Cube'.
- The ItemID Label field is how you find that product within the Product Manager. Don't leave it blank! Make it the same as your 'Description' field so you can easily find that product again later.
After adding two or three products, go to the Shopping Cart Manager and click on 'Build Site'. Go to your web site ( www.yourdomain.com/shopping/ ) and take a look at the pages to see how you're doing. You may want to make some modifications in the way you are entering your products.
CUSTOMIZE YOUR CART
Once you are satisfied with your shopping cart, you will want to integrate it with the rest of your website. FTP into your site and download the file called 'header.asp' from the 'shopping' subdirectory. Customize this file however you like and upload it to the 'buildfiles' subdir within the shopping subdir. Then go to the Shopping Cart Manager again and click on 'Build Site'. Note - you will have to click Build Site each time you make a change to any of the pages on your site before you will see the changes.
Now download the file 'index.asp' from the shopping subdir. Cut & paste the link from this page and put it on your homepage. Then upload your homepage. Congratulations - you're done!
